In Praise of Slow Journalism
A modest manifesto for stories that are checked twice, written with care and built to be read.
We are not against speed. We are against the idea that speed is the only virtue a story can have. A fact confirmed an hour later is worth more than a rumour published a minute sooner.
Form is part of the message
A well-set page, a clear headline, a photograph given room to breathe: these are not decoration. They are respect for the reader's time and attention.
The best compliment a newspaper can receive is simple: it was a pleasure to read. We intend to earn it.
This is the standard we hold ourselves to.
